How to choose a water ionizer in India: 7 things to check
Plates, calibration, service and spares matter more than the brochure numbers. A practical checklist before you buy.

1. Plate material and count
Look for platinum-coated titanium plates. Five to eleven plates cover most homes. More plates help with larger families and low-TDS water, but calibration matters more than count.
2. Calibration to your water
Ask whether the ionizer is set for your water at installation or shipped with a factory preset. In India the difference is real: the same setting gives different pH in different localities.
3. Auto pH control
Does the output stay stable when the feed water changes? Fixed-power machines drift. Look for real-time current control.
4. Power supply
A switched-mode power supply (SMPS) handles Indian voltage fluctuation better than a transformer. The IonX 1101 uses a 150 W SMPS.
5. Cleaning
Scale is the main enemy. Automatic polarity-reversal cleaning plus a manual clean option keeps the plates working.
6. Service and spares
Imported machines can wait weeks for parts. A manufacturer in India with Wi-Fi remote service can diagnose and fix most issues the same day.
7. Honest numbers
pH, ORP and hydrogen figures are maximums. Ask how they were measured and on what water.
